Console Wars - PS3 vs Xbox One

E3 began June 10, 2013, Microsoft, Sony & Nintendo took the stage, with the XboxOne & Playstation 4 at the helm. Microsoft started off on top, they did a good job by not talking about there prior press conference and focused more on gaming. Playstation finished the show on a very high note as well. Today we look closer at Day 1 of  the E3 Console War.

Xbox One showed exclusive, my fave had to be Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3 came in close second & then the resurrection of Killer Instinct. I do feel like the Xbox gave the better showing of exclusive gameplay. Very creative and safe, nothing over the top. The best thing that Xbox did was avoided the issue of the services. This was one of the classic conferences in years. I stand by the 8 out of 10 that I gave their conference. Microsoft didn't really make a mistake on this day, except for one, in a time where console gaming tournaments are getting bigger Microsoft chose to not allow game sharing, you cannot lend your Xbox One game to a friend and expect for them to play it on their system, I know a lot of people may say that it is not very important, but that is hogwash, bolderdash if you will, EVERYONE has at one time or another loaned or borrowed a game from a friend or even asked a friend to bring a game by to check it out. I think the people will notice that come trade-in time, well, that is if you can even trade in a game...

Sony sent their major competition a message, we own tonight... They punched Microsoft in the face, it was very personal. I give Sony 9 out of 10. The reason why is they did everything Microsoft did and more. They showed light exclusives, they showed that you can improve on something you've already shown. What looked good to me was Killzone of course, Elder Scrolls Online, Infamous: Second Son, a Final Fantasy exclusive & they showed Mad Max. They didn't get into God of War, Prototype or Unchartered, which was strange but cool. One thing Sony told it's customers is that there will be a online fee, but incorporated with Playstation Plus, $50 membership gets you 17 free games.

The 9 came from the end of their set, The Playstation 4 plays used games, no online requirement (like xbox) & the price is $399.00. That's $100.00 less than the Xbox One. The night ended with Sony chants and then the final trailer of the night, DESTINY.

To sum the day up, Sony's Playstation 4 won the console war at E3 2013, regardless of what Microsoft does throughout the rest of the week, the damage has been done. Sony won on price & policy & Xbox won slightly with games. There were so many games that Sony fans wanted to see, but Xbox got the opportunity to show Halo & Dead Rising. As far as exclusives were concerned, PS4 still had more, but all things considered, Xbox impressed me.

What system do you think you will purchase?

Xbox One Exclusive:
Ryse: Son of Rome

Playstation 4 Exclusive:
Watch Dogs
